I wanted to create a character that would simply be pleasant to look at. That’s how this little seal came to life — kind, a little naive, and incredibly cozy.

For this illustration, I deliberately used simple rounded shapes, soft natural tones, and lots of small decorative details. The circles scattered around the character add a sense of lightness and a playful mood to the composition. I like how they create the feeling of a little world of its own surrounding the seal.

Most of all, I wanted to capture the feeling of a real plush toy — the kind you want to pick up, hug, and keep close. That’s why the character has such an expressive face, big gentle eyes, and slightly funny whiskers.

Plush Seal is one of the works from my Plush Toys series, where I turn simple ideas and familiar characters into cozy toy-like characters with personalities of their own.
